How to Setup Google FeedBurner for Subtext Blog RSS

Pmall Tags:

Plain & simple steps:

1) Get your Subtext blog live

2) Create a Google FeedBurner account.  It’s tied to a Gmail account so you need to log in first when you arrive at feedburner.google.com

3) Type in your domain in to start creating a feedburner account:

    setupfeedburner1

4) Give it a decent title.  This is what will show up in the user’s Google Reader, or whatever RSS aggregator they are using

5) This step is critical!  it must be the right url to your Subtext Rss.aspx!  For Subtext, you need to make sure that you set the “Original Feed” value to the location of Subtext’s RSS.aspx:

    The format would be this:  http://yourblogdomain.com/Rss.aspx

    setupfeedburner2

6) Go into your feedburner account now and enable 2 things to make your feed very flexible & easy for your customers:

    Enable the Browser Friendly Service

    setupfeedburner3

    Enable the Smart Feed Service

    setupfeedburner4

7) Now put a link somewhere on your Subtext blog that is set to your “Feed Address” as specified in your Feedburner account:

<p style="padding-left: 10px; padding-bottom: 2px;"><a target="_blank"
href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/CodeZest" title="Subscribe to my feed" rel="alternate"
type="application/rss+xml">
<img src="http://www.feedburner.com/fb/images/pub/feed-icon32x32.png" alt="" style="border:0"/></a>
<a href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/CodeZest" title="Subscribe to my feed" rel="alternate"
type="application/rss+xml">Subscribe!</a></p>

8) Test it out.  You should now be taken to your feed subscribe page:

    setupfeedburner5
